What is in the copper range

• Network cable, 305 m boxes: horizontal Cat.6 and Cat.6A cable, 23 AWG solid bare copper, indoor LSZH and outdoor UV resistant.
• Patch panels: 24 and 48 port, 1U and 2U, 19 inch, loaded or unloaded, shielded or unshielded.
• Keystone jacks: Cat.6 and Cat.6A, UTP and FTP, 110 type IDC punch down with T568A and T568B guides on the body.
• Copper patch cords: factory terminated RJ45 leads in Cat.6 UTP, Cat.6 FTP and Cat.6A UTP.
• Socket layout and faceplates: 1 port and 2 port keystone outlets and a DIN rail keystone holder.
• Cabling tools and accessories: RJ45 crimping tools and cable management.

How to choose copper cabling

• Category first. Cat.6 (Class E) is rated to 250 MHz and carries 1 Gbps over a 100 m channel. Cat.6A (Class EA) is rated to 500 MHz and carries 10GBASE-T over the full 100 m, which is what a Cat.6 channel cannot do beyond roughly 55 m. Specify Cat.6A where the building will see 10 Gbps uplinks, PoE++ Type 4 loads or Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access points.
• Shielding to match the environment. U/UTP for ordinary indoor routes, F/UTP where the cable passes electrical panels or fluorescent lighting, SF/UTP for heavy interference such as factory floors, substations and hospital imaging suites, S/FTP for Cat.6A where alien crosstalk between bundled runs is the limiting factor.
• Sheath and location. LSZH sheathing for occupied indoor spaces (low smoke, zero halogen). Double PVC with a UV resistant black outer sheath for rooftop, pole, car park and building to building runs, which matters in Iraqi summer sun where standard indoor PVC chalks and splits.
• Match the whole channel. A channel is only as good as its weakest part. Cable, jacks, patch panel and patch cords must all be the same category, and on a screened system the shield has to be bonded continuously from the cable through the jack to an earthed panel and rack. A floating shield gives no benefit at all.

Where copper cabling is used in Iraq

Government offices and bank server rooms in Baghdad standardise on shielded Cat.6 because the horizontal routes share trays with power. University campuses and hospitals in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah run Cat.6A to the floor distributors so that 10 Gbps uplinks and PoE powered access points are supported without a recabling project later. Telecom operators and ISPs use 48 port panels for aggregation racks where port density is the constraint. New build offices, hotels and retail fit outs across the Kurdistan Region take the U/UTP LSZH cable, a 24 port panel and 1 or 2 port faceplates as a standard package. Outdoor SF/UTP handles CCTV drops, rooftop and pole mounted access points and building to building links on campus and industrial sites in Duhok.
