Patch Cords

Copper patch cords are the short, factory terminated RJ45 leads that connect equipment to the structured cabling: switch port to patch panel inside the rack, panel port to panel port on a cross connect, and wall outlet to a PC, printer, IP phone, camera or access point at the desk. DAD LINK supplies Cat.6 and Cat.6A copper patch cords in Iraq through authorized distributors in Erbil, Baghdad, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok. Unlike horizontal cable, patch cords use stranded bare copper so the lead stays flexible and survives repeated bending and re-patching, and each end carries a moulded strain relief boot that protects the RJ45 latch.

How to choose a copper patch cord

Match the category of the channel. A Cat.6 cord inside a Cat.6A channel drags the whole channel back to Cat.6. If the horizontal cable and jacks are Cat.6A, the patch cords must be Cat.6A too.
Screened or unscreened. Use an FTP cord wherever the rest of the channel is screened, so the shield stays continuous from cable to jack to panel to cord. An FTP cord in an unbonded system gives no benefit, and a UTP cord in a screened system breaks the bond.
Length discipline. Order the length you actually need. Excess cord coiled at the back of a cabinet is the most common cause of untidy patch fields and blocked airflow.
Colour coding. Cords come in multiple lengths and colours, which is the cheapest way to separate data, voice, CCTV and management VLANs visually in a busy rack.

All three are built on stranded bare copper with RJ45 8P8C connectors at both ends and a moulded boot, to ISO/IEC 11801 and TIA-568, and are available in multiple lengths and colours.

Where they are used

Patch cords are the highest turnover copper item on any site. Bank and government data rooms in Baghdad re-patch constantly, so the boot and the stranded conductor matter as much as the headline category. ISP and telecom aggregation racks in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah use FTP cords in dense cabinets where crosstalk between bundled leads is a real risk. Offices, classrooms and hotel rooms across the Kurdistan Region use UTP Cat.6 cords from the wall outlet to the device, and 10 Gigabit server and Wi-Fi 6E uplinks take the Cat.6A cord.
