This section holds bulk horizontal network cable in 305 metre pull boxes, the cable that runs from the rack to every outlet in a structured cabling installation. All five DAD LINK cables are 23 AWG solid bare copper built to ISO/IEC 11801 and TIA-568, in Cat.6 (Cat6) and Cat.6A, with four shielding levels and an outdoor UV resistant option. They are supplied across Iraq through authorized distributors in Erbil, Baghdad, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok.

How to choose a cable box

Speed you need at 100 metres. Cat.6 gives 1 Gbps at 250 MHz. Cat.6A gives 10 Gbps at 500 MHz over the full channel. If the building will carry 10GBASE-T, PoE++ or Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 access points, start with Cat.6A.
How much interference the route sees. No screen for clean indoor routes, an overall foil for moderate noise near lighting and distribution boards, foil plus braid for factories, plant rooms and any run within about a metre of three phase feeders or variable frequency drives.
Indoors or outdoors. LSZH for occupied indoor spaces. The outdoor cable uses twin PVC sheaths with a UV resistant black outer jacket and a tinned copper braid that resists corrosion.
Conduit fill. Outside diameter decides how many runs fit a tray or conduit. The unshielded cable is the slimmest at 6.2 mm and the outdoor cable the thickest at 9.0 mm, so shielded designs need conduit sizing checked before the pull.

Typical use in Iraq

Contractors fitting out new offices and hotels in Erbil take U/UTP Cat.6 as the default because it terminates fastest and packs the most runs per conduit. Bank and government server rooms in Baghdad specify F/UTP or SF/UTP where horizontal routes share containment with power. Universities and hospitals moving to 10 Gigabit floor distributors buy S/FTP Cat.6A. Outdoor SF/UTP goes to CCTV, rooftop and pole mounted access points, car parks and building to building links on campuses in Sulaymaniyah and Duhok.

Complete the channel

Terminate the run on a Cat.6 or Cat.6A keystone jack at both ends, land it on a 19 inch patch panel in the rack, present it at the desk on a 1 or 2 port faceplate, and patch with a matching copper patch cord. Guide: Cat6 vs Cat6A.
