The DAD LINK SC/UPC-SC/UPC Multimode Duplex Adaptor is a passive fiber optic coupler that holds two mated pairs of SC/UPC multimode connectors in one panel cut-out. It is the only multimode SC unit in the DAD LINK adapter range, and it is the part that presents legacy and campus multimode plant terminated on SC. DAD LINK supplies it across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
A great deal of installed multimode fiber in Iraq was terminated on SC, and it is still in service: campus links between faculty buildings, riser fiber in older office towers, and inter-building runs on hospital and ministry sites in Baghdad and Erbil. When a distribution frame in that kind of plant is refurbished or extended, the adapters are the consumable that gets replaced, and they have to stay SC and stay multimode to match what is already spliced in. This unit does exactly that, without forcing a re-termination of the existing plant.

How to choose
Multimode and single mode adapters look similar and are not interchangeable: the alignment tolerance differs, and fitting the wrong one adds loss at every mated pair. If the plant is single mode, the matching part is the SC/UPC single mode duplex adaptor, or the SC/UPC single mode simplex adaptor where fibers are presented one at a time. If the plant is multimode but terminated on LC rather than SC, use the LC/PC multimode OM3 duplex adaptor. No adapter in the range converts SC to LC: to bridge the two, use a hybrid LC-SC patch cord.
