Free-Standing Server Racks
Floor standing server racks for server rooms and data centres
A floor standing server rack, also called a free-standing cabinet or a network cabinet, is a full-height 19-inch enclosure that sits on the floor and carries servers, switches, UPS units and power distribution in one lockable, ventilated frame. DAD LINK supplies floor standing server racks in Iraq from 18U up to 42U, built to the 19-inch EIA-310 standard (ANSI/EIA RS-310-D) in SPCC cold-rolled steel, with knock-down frames and laser U-marked mounting profiles that make it straightforward to position equipment accurately on site. These are the cabinets specified for bank and government server rooms, ISP aggregation points and university data centres across Erbil, Baghdad, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok.

How to choose a floor standing cabinet
- U height. 18U and 22U suit a compact server room or a network closet. 27U and 32U fit mid-size rooms and ISP deployments. 37U and 42U are the full-height data centre sizes.
- Width. The standard cabinets are 600 mm wide. Step up to the 800 mm wide cabinet when you need dedicated vertical cable management beside the equipment rather than crammed behind it.
- Depth. 600 mm handles most rack-mount servers and switches. The 1000 mm deep cabinet is for deep enterprise servers and builds carrying dual PDUs.
- Load. MS4-series cabinets are rated 1000 kg static load. The QL3-series wide cabinet is rated 2400 kg, for fully populated high-density rows.
- Airflow and doors. MS4 cabinets use a 5 mm toughened glass front door that opens beyond 180 degrees, with a plate steel or vented rear door. The QL3 uses hexagonal high-density vented doors front and rear with more than 75 percent ventilation. Both are IP20 and accept an optional top fan unit.
Range and specifications
| Model | Series | Width x depth | Static load | Front door |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 18U | MS4 | 600 x 600 mm | 1000 kg | 5 mm toughened glass |
| 22U | MS4 | 600 x 600 mm | 1000 kg | 5 mm toughened glass |
| 27U | MS4 | 600 x 600 mm | 1000 kg | 5 mm toughened glass |
| 32U | MS4 | 600 x 600 mm | 1000 kg | 5 mm toughened glass |
| 37U | MS4 | 600 x 600 mm | 1000 kg | 5 mm toughened glass |
| 42U | MS4 | 600 x 600 mm | 1000 kg | 5 mm toughened glass |
| 42U wide | QL3.8042 | 800 x 1000 mm | 2400 kg | Hexagonal vented |
MS4 panel thickness is 2.0 mm on the mounting profile, 1.5 mm on the mounting angle and 1.2 mm elsewhere. The QL3 adds a 7-fold steel frame with stiffened side panels, 480-hour salt-spray testing, seismic resistance and a rear fixing for dual PDUs or DC PDUs. Standards: ANSI/EIA RS-310-D, IEC 60297, DIN 41494 Part 1 and Part 7, ETSI, UL and RoHS, plus CE on the QL3.
Applications in Iraq
ISPs building out FTTH in the Kurdistan Region typically pair a 27U or 32U cabinet with rack-mount ODF enclosures and a 12 or 15 outlet PDU at each aggregation point. Bank and ministry server rooms in Baghdad and Erbil standardise on 18U to 22U for two or three servers, a switch stack and a UPS. Universities and telecom operators specify 42U, choosing the 800 mm wide QL3 where vertical cable management must sit beside the equipment. Where dust or high ambient temperature is a factor, add the vented rear door and top fan unit at order time.
